Your Vote, Your Voice, Your Saturday: Join the Party at the Polls on October 24th and Get Pumped to Vote! 🎉
Louisiana, we're calling you! Every two years, we get a chance to shape the state we call home, from the roads we drive on to the schools our kids attend. This October, we're making it feel less like a chore and more like a celebration.
So, What Are the Midterms?
The midterm elections happen halfway through a president's four-year term. This year, Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Here's what's up for grabs:
The U.S. House of Representatives:Â All 435 seats are on the ballot.
The U.S. Senate:Â About a third of the seats are up for election.
State and local races:Â Judges, sheriffs, school boards, parish officials, and ballot measures that shape daily life right here at home.
Why Your Vote Is a Big Deal
Midterms decide who controls Congress. That determines which bills get a vote, which nominees get confirmed, and how much oversight the executive branch faces.
Local races hit closest to home. Property taxes, school funding, public safety, infrastructure, and healthcare access are often decided by officials who win by just a few thousand votes. In races like these, your ballot carries real weight.
Turnout is usually low, which means YOU have power. Midterm turnout often hovers around half of eligible voters. When fewer people vote, every single vote counts for more.
Early Voting: The Fun, Flexible Way to Vote
Early voting means no Election Day rush, shorter lines, and a plan that fits your schedule. If work, family, or a packed calendar gets in the way, this is your moment. In Louisiana, early voting for the 2026 midterm elections runs from Tuesday, October 20 to Tuesday, October 27 (excluding Sunday, October 25). Polls are typically open from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at early voting locations. Confirm your specific early voting dates, hours, and ID requirements with the Louisiana Secretary of State or your parish registrar of voters before you go.

How to Join the Fun
Vote early! Make your plan, grab your ID, kicks, heels, or church shoes and head to the polls. All polling places are accessible to voters with disabilities, and accommodations are available. If you have questions about accessibility or need assistance, contact your parish registrar of voters ahead of time to make sure your needs are met.
Bring a friend. People are far more likely to vote when someone invites them, so grab a neighbor, coworker, or family member and make it a group outing.
Volunteer. Phone bank, text bank, knock doors, or greet voters. It's a great way to meet people and make a difference. To get started, just sign up at here. You can choose activities that fit your schedule and interests, and we'll provide all the training you need. For more details about volunteer opportunities or to connect with a local organizer, check our website or email us at info@pumpstothepolls.org.
Offer a ride. A carpool can be the difference between someone voting and not voting.
Spread the word. Share the date in your group chats, on social media, and at church, work, and school. Tag your city!
